Welcome to the Sheriff of Cumberland County's Traffic Safety Program Web site. The safety Program is funded by The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, through a Community Traffic Safety Grant. The program is headed by G. William Garrison, a retired Millville Police Officer.

The grant charges the Safety Program with reducing the number of serious motor vehicle crashes and the related deaths caused by these crashes.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Traffic Safety Program was formed in 2001. This Program consists of members from the Sheriff's Department, State Police, the county's three police departments, rescue squads, paramedics, schools, road department, Emergency Management, hospital and general citizens. If you would like to attend a meeting or possibly join our group please contact Mr. Garrison by completing our contact form.

Buck Program Goes State Wide!

The Division of Highway Traffic Safety (DHTS) is committed to ensuring the safety of our children both on and off New Jersey’s roadways. With that in mind, the Division recently adopted Buck the Buckle-up Dog as its official “mascot.” Developed by the Cumberland County Highway Traffic Safety Committee, through a grant from the Division, Buck the Buckle-up Dog is a program designed to educate children in grades K-3 about booster seat and seat belt use, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. A series of books, posters and other collateral materials have been developed for both young people and educators to use as part of this interactive initiative.
